AOB at JA Titan

Nineteen students from SRTC’s Academy of Business competed in the annual Junior Achievement Titan Challenge on Thursday, April 11 at IDEXX Labs in Westbrook.  This is a simulation-based event in which high school students compete as business CEOs in the cell phone industry, experiencing firsthand how an organization evaluates alternatives, makes decisions, analyzes the outcomes of those decisions, and then strategizes what to do next. With a focus on financial literacy and insights into the workforce, JA Titan brings business economics to life. Students work as teams to make financial decisions about production, marketing, research and development, and corporate social responsibility. This is when they see how every choice made in an organization relates to its future success.

A total of seven teams from SRTC participated in this year’s challenge at the IDEXX location along with other teams from Westbrook, Gorham and Waynflete. SRTC4 and SRTC5 placed in the Top 10 of 106 teams that participated in 8 locations throughout the state with SRTC5 placing 3rd in the Region. The Academy of Business would like to thank Mr. Paul Bourret who has volunteered numerous hours in the program working with students preparing them for the competition, as well as the many volunteers who participate at the annual competition.
