What are the main objectives of the program?

The course's main objectives are to prepare students for entry-level positions in the Auto Collision field, with a solid knowledge base in all aspects of the industry so that they can choose a path that best suits their interests.

How does the program incorporate hands-on learning and practical experience?

The program incorporates classroom instruction, which is about 25%, and hands-on shop experience, the other 75%. Based on state program standards, the students are required to apply classroom knowledge to actively perform tasks on personal and customer vehicles from start to finish and gain proficiency in all aspects of the repair process. Students have the opportunity to work on simple parts replacement for vehicles that have been involved in a collision that requires panel repair and/or replacement through refinishing.

What resources and equipment are available to students in the program?

The students are certified in safety through SP/2/Fusion, Lift safety and operation through ALI, and student-level ASE for auto collision welding, non-structural repair, refinishing, and electrical components. They also become I-Car certified in pro-level 1 non-structural and refinishing. All of this is done in a state-of-the-art shop with all equipment needed, such as lifts, frame machines, welding equipment, metal, aluminum, and plastic repair stations, and a spray booth with a mixing room as well as a mixing system for formulating our paint colors for refinishing.

Are there any partnerships or collaborations involved in the Automotive Collision Repair Program?

The Auto Collision Program is supported by local businesses, with our primary sponsor being Weirs Collision Center, and excellent partnerships with Cabanas Autobody, Moody's Collision Centers, Dryden's Autobody, and Cobra Powder Coating all of which offer support and internships for our students.
