Every year, UNE hosts a free health career explorations camp for high school students to participate in hands-on activities to learn about various careers in health care. In addition, they learn about the college admissions process. The camp will take place June 22nd – 24th. During the camp, students will participate in fun hands-on activities while learning about careers in: Dental Medicine, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Occupation Therapy, Osteopathic Medicine, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Nutrition and more.

The School Counseling office will be hosting a Financial Aid Night for the Class of 2025 on Wednesday, May 1st, @ 6PM, in the Performing Arts Center. This is a great opportunity for college bound juniors to learn about the financial aid process. Students are strongly encouraged to attend with parents/guardians. Please reach out to your school counselor if you have questions.
New Scholarship Opportunity for Graduating Seniors: Thomas and Marion Goodall Scholarship. Given to a graduating senior who intends to remain in Maine after fulfilling a 4-year degree and has demonstrated leadership skills, community involvement and strong character while at SHS. This a $5,000 scholarship per year x 4 years. Essay required – WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER GOALS AFTER GRADUATION? If you are interested in this fantastic scholarship, please pass in your essay to the principal’s office no later than Friday, May 10, 2024.
It is nearly 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and organizations across the country are gearing up to recognize this milestone and the history of our nation. The National America 250 Commission has announced one of their first initiatives, a nation-wide competition for students grades 3 thru 12, in recognition of the importance of youth voices and their promise for our future. Students are asked to submit artwork, videos, or essays in response to the contest’s prompt: “What does America mean to you?” 25 students from each grade span will win a three-day trip to tour historical sites. Other prizes include $500 for students, and teachers affiliated with the winning projects also receive a $1,000 cash prize. Rules, submission requirements for each grade span, scoring criteria, and further information can be found at: America's Field Trip - America250 Deadline for submissions is May 17, 2024.
Anyone interested in running for Student Council or for Class Officer can see Mr. Smith in room E150 for a petition and contract. They will be due back by Friday, May 3rd in order to be included on the ballot.

LAST WEEK OF The Starving Spartan Café will be open on Tuesday and Thursdays. Block 3 they will be open to Staff and Block 4 they will be open to Students and Staff. Tuesday they are selling Crispy Chicken Wrap with Chips for $5. The options include Parmesan cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, Caesar dressing, Ranch dressing, mayo and salt/pepper. Environmental Club meets on Tuesday after school in room E250, (second floor at the end of the blue wing on your left). Help us make an impact on the environment by selling trees in the community, bottle recycling, and much more! All are welcome.

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team is looking for game day assistants to manage the center field table for home games (best seat in the house!). No experience needed; can earn two community service hours per game! Contact Coach Foley at kfoley@sanford.org.
Greater Sanford Babe Ruth Baseball is recruiting volunteers to act as the announcer at Goodall Park in Sanford during league games. Volunteers will address the audience at the start of each game and between innings. The announcer also introduces players as they come to bat, or are substituted during a game. Greater Sanford Babe Ruth Baseball is recruiting volunteers to operate the scoreboard at Goodall Park in Sanford during league games.
